Telluride

Architect: Ron Berkovitz

Nestled in the mountain town of Telluride, CO, this small home sits quietly on its site, next to Cornet Creek and surrounded by cottonwood and aspen trees.  Reclaimed barnwood clads the exterior, along with rusty corten steel siding and roof panels.  A steel walking bridge takes the owner across the creek from Galena St to the front door.  Inside, reclaimed oak flooring and distressed wood doors provide rich character accents to the contemporary finishes.

Alternative Worksite Studio

Built for artist Linda Burnham, and designed by architect Stan Allen, this building is Linda’s personal studio and also a meeting/work space for her artist-in-residency program in Roanoke, VA.  Composed of two large gable stuctures set at 9 degree angles to each other, the building reflects its mountainous setting.  Exposed concrete walls, concrete panels, and metal roof define the exterior.  Light fills into the interior volumes, and a large Nanawall sliding door opens to the stone courtyard.

This elegant home was designed by the renowned Tea 2 Architects in Minneapolis.   The home draws on historical sources but reinterprets them into a thoroughly original and inspiring modern design.    Clean lines and articulation of fine details make this home stand apart.  Building on a large lot in the historical South Roanoke neighborhood, we thoroughly enjoyed bringing this beautiful home to fruition for our clients.

Inspired by the traditional Virginia classic farmhouse, this home sits beautifully in the rolling hills of Franklin County.  The metal roof and clapboard siding invoke a timeless farmhouse style, and the large front and rear porches invite conversation and relaxation.  The interior is built for large family gatherings, with plenty of separate spaces for individual privacy.  While the architecture harkens back to a more peaceful past, the home has all the modern amenities one would expect in the digital age- with geothermal heat pumps, solar power, a high efficiency thermal envelope, and high speed connectivity to tie all the systems together.

Sitting on the 10th Fairway at Ballyhack Golf Club, this beautiful craftsman style home has amazing views of the surrounding mountains.   Clean lines and rich details define this home.  The main level has a timber frame vaulted Great Room open to the Kitchen, with a handsome stone fireplace and large windows and doors opening up to the vistas beyond.  The Master Bedroom is on the main level, with three more bedrooms and an office upstairs.  A large stone patio opens up the main level living spaces to the outdoors, and an enclosed porch keeps the fires warm in the winter.

This French-Country style home was built on an existing lot in South Roanoke.  The stone window and door surrounds were imported from France, along with the stone pavers, roof tiles, and ornamental stone elements.  The Owners are furniture makers, so most of the interior finishes (flooring, doors, stairs, trim) were imported from their shops abroad. An amazing amount of thoughtful detail and impeccable craftsmanship is evident in this unique home.  The architecture, design and landscaping work together to create a flowing pattern of forms, as if the house had been added onto over many years.

This country home was built on 15 acres in Botetourt Co.  The refined and simple Tudor style of the home makes it blend in beautifully with its surroundings.  A pool and guest house were constructed in the rear of the main house to create a large and inviting outdoor entertaining space.  The slate roof was repurposed from a much older home in Roanoke.  The main level of the house open and spacious with large 8x8 timber frame trusses.  The Owners have horses, so a barn was constructed on another area of the property.
