Hoge Governors Mansion

Description

In 1826, General James Hoge commissioned the construction of this stunning brick main house, along with a smokehouse and a separate cooking and laundry house. At the time, it was the only brick structure within 100 miles, drawing visitors from afar to admire its exceptional craftsmanship. The original Federal-style home featured six rooms—three on the first floor and three on the second—along with a full cellar that housed an English kitchen complete with its own cooking area. This project involved a complete renovation to every room of the house, including a contemporary kitchen, while retaining the home's unique historical architectural elements.
